Sitting here listening to Darran Byrne's new CD, "Enteraining Hans Sachs." Darran Byrne is an Irish folksinger (singer/songwriter?) who also lives here in Hamburg. I saw him/met him last weekend during the Hamburg Hafengeburtstagfest (harbor fest). He was playing at the Kilkenny stage...and was tearing the joint up! His attack-style chording stuck long and hard in the back of my head...the kind of acoustic player who makes you see beyond the stage and into the songs themselves.
Plus, he's just a good songwriter, too. All the tracks are original except for "When Doves Cry." Nice to hear new music that simply works.
